I think $8,000/mo was a typo...I guess it was anyway.
I would located near a MARTA stop and ride it back and forth to work it I were you. There is a very convenient Ft. McPherson stop and MARTA is very easy to use. Rentals may be a bit more expensive near a station, but there are also several stops with commuter parking. Just a thought.

i've found a really good place to look is zillow.com— just type in a city, then when it comes up, type in your price and the results come up. as for the neighbourhoods, that's probably something you need to ask us.
things to consider: would you like to live in an urban area (high rise apartment), an in-town neighbourhood (low rise apartment or house rental but still in the urban core), or a suburban area (apartment or house, 15+ miles from the urban core)
