Hmmm...Moe's and Pizza Hut? That's your idea of 'development'? As far as I can see, it's the promise of streetcars that is driving the new interest. Will the restaurants be able to hang on long enough? Wouldn't take much of a delay to 'de-rail' the success of any business that jumps on the 'speculation' bandwagon. Let's be realistic, folks. The restaurant biz is tough enough.

Mostly college students live in the area. Those places are perfect for hungry students that can't afford fancy, expensive food. Did you read the article?

^Exactly. This corridor needs to be attracting local/unique businesses. On Edgewood there are a lot of really great local places.

But I guess we have to start somewhere, and Moe's and Pizza Hut should be popular with students.

If the 'customers' are already there, why did it take the 'promise' of street cars to encourage the development of these highly desired establishments? The street cars aren't going door to door to bring in the patrons.

The storefronts they will occupy have been vacant for years. It'll be good to have those spaces occupied, even if some of us have a snobby attitude towards chain food.

A mix of local businesses and chains is preferable for any healthy marketplace.
