That's what I've been trying to find out...if anyone knows he should definitely share it, because this issue is one people have been trying to solve for a loooooong time.

Maybe I'm crazy.....

But I really don't see what's so wrong with arresting people for sleeping on the street if a proper shelter is made available to them as an alternative.

Maybe we should simply empower downtown pedestrians by designating it as an open carry district. Obviously you don't want anyone to get hurt but I bet some of these panhandlers wouldn't be so aggressive if they knew their targets were capable of protecting themselves.

It is perfectly legal to carry pepper spray, and I think everybody should.

And it should be used without fear. If the beggar wants to press charges, first he has to figure out who you are, which would be almost impossible because you'll be gone by the time he can see again. And if you do get found and charges pressed, it's really a case of "he said, she said" and what jury is going to take the word of a beggar over a productive member of society trying to make a living?

Just saying.

I don't want anybody to be hurt either.

But I think it only has to happen a few times before word starts spreading that the people of Atlanta have had enough and the beggars either stop begging or pack up and move on to a friendlier atmoshpere.

Of course, I'm also the guy who thought we could solve the illegal booting problem with gangs of roving vigilantes who shot car booters with double barrel shotguns on sight, so even though my solutions are effective, they aren't without dissenters.

Of course the next thing you know the panhandlers will start packing pepper spray and using it to soften up and/or distract their prey.

If people start pepper spraying panhandlers just because they ask for money, I hope the panhandlers retaliate in kind.
