"Chief Executive Officer Beverly Hall told the board last December that she would not be asking for another contract when the one in place expires at the end of this year. The agency has yet to set a deadline for choosing a new leader. Eleven candidates have been reduced to four and at least one of them is a MARTA executive..."

Promoting an existing executive....meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

What MARTA needs is a total bada$$ CEO who is going to come in and clean house where it needs to be cleaned and make radical changes. Someone with a strong track record of turning failing ventures around.

Wouldn't say MARTA is failing, but fresh blood would be good and help the agencies image.

What I meant was just to get one of the guys who is known for turning around companies that aren't performing well. There are people who have reputations for doing that kind of work.

Please explain why MARTA isn't working well. It has the 2nd highest occupancy rate for subways in the country? Close to 500,000 people use buses and trains. It keeps over 250,000 cars off Atlanta's roads. Stellar safety record.

And it's well above the United States median farebox recovery ratio, above places held as an example for Atlanta such as Denver, Portland, and Dallas.

Because it bought tons of computers that sat in storage so long they became obsolete before they were turned on.

Because it lost the ability to accept credit cards on a major holiday weekend.

Because its management team gets busted having anonymous gay sex in mens rooms.

Because its PR is terrible and many people believe it is unsafe to ride.

Because it constantly loses money.

Because this list could go on forever.
