My wife and I are currently renting in Buckhead but are looking to buy a home in the near future. We are most interested in the Roswell/Dunwoody area or East Cobb. Not opposed to other towns nearby either (Alpharetta/Sandy Springs/maybe even as far west as Smyrna).

- Budget is preferably under 200k. 220-230 would be absolute maximum.
- Looking for a home, not condo. Would prefer 3+br/2+btr, decent sized backyard. Would definitely prefer an older home with a bigger yard in an older established neighborhood over a newer cookie-cutter home.
- I work in Duluth and my wife works in south Marietta close to the perimeter
- No children yet, but planning on it in the next few years, so good schools would be a big plus

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Sounds like you have a pretty good idea of what you want and where. What are you looking for help with?

Mainly I was looking for opinions like which of these places may be the most likely to fit what we want.. Is one of these locations more suitable for what we are looking for that others? Which ones have the better schools? Bigger yards/more space?

We have driven around some but it is hard to see EVERYTHING when we aren't very familiar with the areas.

Most interested in the following:

Roswell
Dunwoody
East Cobb
Sandy Springs
Smyrna
Alpharetta

My neighborhood in East Cobb has 1/2 acre lots and older ranch homes that sell for around 175k. Our schools (Pope High) are considered very good. I love this area. Search 30066, 30062, and 30075 and look at homes that feed into Lassiter High or Pope High.

Mar-Lanta?

Barbara Estates?

Rolling Acres?

Camelot?

Beaver Ridge Farms?
