Metro Atlanta’s transportation needs can’t wait another decade to be fixed | SaportaReport
MARTA has the lowest expense per passenger mile on rail based transit and second lowest for buses. CCT gets a shout out too.

This may be factually true, CQ, but it will be an uphill battle convincing people that they should believe it. These days a lot of folks don't feel constrained by factual data in reaching their opinions.

It's much easier to believe "factual data" when it is qualified, not when it is part of a column that makes claims like "Our departments of transportation and local transit systems are almost unmatched nationally in providing transportation services to the public."

Really? New York, Chicago, Boston, etc. can't match our transportation services?

Don't care who believes, just wanted to put it out there for people to read, enjoy!

In many ways, they can't.
Over New York, MARTA is cleaner and has better fare control.
Over Chicago, MARTA is cleaner, and has better fare control.
Over Boston, MARTA is cleaner, in better repair, has much better fare system overall, and has clear signage and directions.

I love MARTA, but in defense of those systems they are much older than MARTA. I was very surprised at how old and outdated MTA was. WMATA is another system in worse repair than MARTA.

by all means all of these cities had the same funding issues during the 70s-90s.

The difference was they had a larger legacy system left behind.

Why so much hate for MARTA? I'm sitting here at the Buckhead station right now and it's really not that bad. Very cheap for sure. Just by a monthly pass and be done with it. It's less than $100 which is a steal.

They also all have much better system coverage of the cities they are in than MARTA. You know, the actual point of having a transit system, getting around town.
