Wonder if it might sink the Tech Square B&N? That B&N relies on more than book sales to the GT community.

They will carry some electronics, peripherals, a few devices. They may sell some iPods too"..."They will also sell a lot of grocery items... frozen foods, fresh foods,... grab-and-go and beverage items. It's like a mini CVS
Walmart's predatory pricing is good news for students but B&N won't compete in electronics, convenience foods, and sundries. And if Walmart offers general school supplies and other student dorm needs...and with the ever increasing move towards ebooks...I don't see how B&N can survive there.

These have been popping up around the US.

From what I have read, they will not have the same prices as the superstores.

Wal-Mart plans to open small stores faster

Walmart preys on everything. Is nothing sacred? Now they are on college campuses?

It's going into the former Blues & Ribs space, it's going to be tiny. They even used the term "mini-CVS" to describe it, and a typical CVS isn't all that large (on a Wal-Mart scale) to begin with. I don't think the B&N is in any danger, nor the Office Max down the street.

Pretty sure B&N did a lot more to kill bookstores than Wal-Mart. These days its Amazon that's doing the damage.

The GT B&N like most campus bookstores makes its bread and butter on textbooks, student discount hardware/software, and overpriced diploma frames. The Wal-Mart space is only ~2,500 sf which doesn't leave a ton of space for books or Apple gear.

Walmart has done a lot more to kill small biz than any other corp in the country.
