Just bought a house in Loganville and started looking for a gym.

I am not really interested in the run of the mill L.A. Fitness type gym with rows of machines and treadmills and free weights. I don't really want any personal trainers or anything either, just looking for a gym that has unique, cross fit types of equipment that focus on body weight like rings, wall peg boards and climbing exercises, monkey bar type urban workout stuff (pullups/dips/etc.), heavy bags, jump ropes, things like that.

I haven't found anything yet online.....anyone have any gyms in mind? Any feed back on what gyms to go look at would be appreciated.

Thanks forum!

You probably won't find much in Loganville, but you could try this place in Snellville: CrossFit Iconz

I was going to suggest the corssfit in Snellville as well. You can also google boxing gyms in your area.

i looked into that but i wonder......do you have to attend a class or can you just go in and use the equipment? i've never done crossfit formally (attended a formal cross fit class in a cross fit gym) but i love the equipment/infrastructure cross fit gyms typically have.

if a gym like that would allow members to come in at any time and just work out with the equipment they have without having to attend a class, i'd definitely consider going with somewhere like Iconz.

Have you called them to ask?

Build your own in your basement/garage. Can be done with just a little cash to get started, and then you are working out for free with no monthly dues.

The only gym I know of in the ATL metro that has crossfit stuff but doesn't require you to do at least a crossfit training course is Core Body Decatur. Sorry, not that useful, but I looked all over the place about 6 months ago for a similar thing, all the way out to Duluth.

and i've always done it this way but i guess i figured it would be a good way to get out of the house, maybe meet some new people in town, benefit from the extra motivation from the class instructors, etc. but it just doesn't make much economic sense for me right now. for what someone spends on a Crossfit gym membership for 6 months, they'd have enough money to buy all the equipment they use at the Crossfit gym anyhow, aside from maybe the rowing machine (which I already have).

i used to have a membership to Fitness 19 for those days where i needed equipment that isn't in my garage. small place, never too busy, good people and after paying a $99 start up fee, my monthly membership fee was a whopping $7.....can't beat it. $7 is basically free, but there's no Fitness 19 in Loganville so I guess I'll go back to just tearing it up in the garage
