Yeah. The 'murica my grandfather knew and loved in western MN and eastern SD spoke a lot of German, not Spanish. Why doesn't MARTA add German announcements?

Who's in charge of keeping score on a city's international status anyway? Atlanta just scored another point apparently.

Pretty soon, by the time all the languages are cycled through, we'd be at the next station.

Past 3 or 4 station past the on being announced.

Not sure why they need to translate the station names. Its Airport Station . ... That the name of the station it's not " la estación del aeropuerto"

I can barely understand the announcements when they are in English!

Maybe somebody can explain something to me....since phonetically, Spanish and English are pretty similar, can't Spanish speakers figure out the stops from hearing them in English? I mean, if I was in Spain or Mexico and saw the Spanish name of the station I needed to stop at, I'd be able to figure out when they announce it even if they did so in Spanish. Phonetically, it's pretty much exactly the same, so what's the issue?

Yes, because a new language on the MARTA is going to make Atlanta magically become world-class.

Let's not speak in hyperbole.

That reminds me of the train I took from Milan to Switzerland. The announcements were in English, German, Italian, and French. I learned what "next stop" is in those languages.

The Atlanta that I knew and loved in the 80's had a lot of Japanese business people. MARTA should add Japanese announcements.

Knew this would ruffle some feathers.

Hell, I'm white, I'm American, I only speak English, and this doesn't bother me one bit. In fact I think the new announcements are kinda cool to hear.

Its like Dora the Explorer for adults. I now know how to say 'The next station is' is Spanish.
