two places to check out, and this is seriously real italian stuff— are antico pizza napolitano on hemphill at 14th street. movie stars and celebrities are seen in there all the time, and the guy that runs the place is from naples. the second place to check out is east 48th street deli in dunwoody— it's a serious italian deli where they roast their own beef and make their own prosciutto. both are relatively affordable— not everyday affordable, but ~$12/person

Antico was our pizza oven inspiration (but recent visits have been less than stellar).
48th Street Deli is a great place to get some items you can't get anywhere else, such as Caputo "00" flour needed for pizza and the Calabrian peppers for hot oil. They also have sandwiches, and cheeses, Italian canned goods, etc. However, it is small, cramped and often long lines, which tells you that we need more places like this.

Be sure you are okay with paper plates, plastic forks, a roll of paper towels for napkins and a whole lot of little kids.

Give Atlanta some credit for the progress it has made. It was only 25 years ago when Pizza Hut was ranked #1 pie in the city.

Thank you all for the suggestions! I actually went out the other night with a co-worker who is a native of this area and we went to Antico Pizza or whatever it's called. Awesome set up and the people are very genuine and friendly. Food was delicious! Going to try out other places recommended in this thread; I am really craving pasta tonight!
