Diversity is only cool if it is embraced by its city and with Atlanta, you don't really get that feeling. With Atlanta, you feel like the Blacks stick to themselves and the Whites stick to themselves.
As others have said, the above makes it sound like you have little to no experience with the Atlanta metro.

The suburban area I live in is roughly 39% black, 38% white, and the remainder mixed, and it's not all that segregated. There are many other areas of the metro with similar demographics, as well as both urban and large suburban areas which are mixed, majority black, or majority white.

This interactive map is a nice way to explore various areas of the country:

Search for Atlanta, GA, and you can see that while the whole metro has a general north/south divide, there really isn't any urban/suburban racial divide here.

This Google search may lead to a lot more information:

I can't speak to Columbus that is not at all the situation here in Atlanta or most other major cities. Blacks have been exiting the city of Atlanta in large numbers for 30 years, whereas whites have been moving in. See the chart here.

There's also been huge growth of the black population in the suburban counties.

That's pretty typical in many major metros.

Your statement here is not a true statement. Why? Because it's a Fallacy.
It's called Begging the Question.

"These people love living there"
"How do you know?
"Because they live there"
-Begging the Question... NOT a true statement

You can not CONCLUDE that Blacks "love" to live in an urban area, while most whites "love" to live in a suburband area just because the statistics show that most blacks live in urban areas and the suburban population is mostly white...

SIMPLY PUT, PEOPLE LIVE WHERE THEY CAN AFFORD TO LIVE
Then there are the FEW that can afford to live where they want...

You make it sound like blacks LOVE living in those inner city neighborhoods where it's not safe. HECK NO!!! THEY HATE IT! BUT, many were born and raised there and have not found their open door to afford moving elsewhere yet. Some give up on trying. Some make it out and never look back. There are a thousand different stories to tell, but to say "Blacks love living in urban areas" is simply not a good argument or statement because it can NOT possibly ever be based on statistical fact, no matter what demographics show.

I mean, really WHO the heck WANTS to live IN South Central? NOBODY, but because those people live there instead of way out in Calabasas, doesn't mean they would rather live in South Central... TRUST THAT

Demographics of Atlanta - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Actually Atlanta and even NYC are loosing their inner city population because more blacks can afford to move live in the suburbs,My father grew up in Perry Georgia. After living in Atlanta(Clayton/Henry) these past 25 years and they moved back 5 year ago to where I was mostly raised in Warner Robins. My 33 year old sister did the same and followed them to raise my nephew.
The metro area is OTP is gaining blacks faster than the ITP.

My point exactly, out of 1.7+ million blacks in metro Atlanta. How many do you think live in a suburban area?

I think its just bias. The whole"it's the South" thing.Dont know what else it could be but there is not data that supports what you say at all.In fact most southern major cities are more intergrated than in the North and Midwest.Chicago and Milwaukee are the worst in segregation.
