I actually think these shows do more damage to racial and ethnic groups than actual states or cities. The most dangerous and powerful enemy to those black families who care are shows like these and stories like these:

BBC News - Africa: Where black is not really beautiful

Same case with Honey Boo Boo, Slumdog Millionaire(not a true representation of the modern day India..the movie was set back in time) or Jersey Shore.

But while we're at it..someone set up a touring company for East Point/College Park! If we can't beat em, we can join em.

But wait, I thought Macon was part of the "metro Atlanta" area. You once said it was. Chattanooga too. And Augusta. And Birmingham. All hail Atlanta, "capital of the South".

Just with these 5 shows alone, Atlanta has a nationwide reputation of being GROUND ZERO of America's dumb and ignorant.

Real housewives of New jersey Isn't any better Love and Hip Hop New york wasn't any better Mob Wives etc all these shows im pretty sure dont represent these peoples community .. Its reality TV and if someones dumb enough to sit there and think this represents Atlanta or Blacks when every city has there fair share of of foolishness then that's on you. Don't blame Atlanta blame these Networks who keep doing this.
Yes, of course, it's the networks' "fault". These people don't really exist in "reality". The networks are just making up all this "reality" TV. NOT!

And for some "reason" these networks keep honing in on Atlanta over and over and over, and every time they keep striking fool's gold with Honey Boo Boo, Baby's Mamas and all the rest.

Stayin' classy.

Why are black people now so up in arms about this show??
These reality shows are geared toward black women, so they can blog, tweet & react to these shows at the water cooler. Most str8 black men do not watch any of these reality shows. Does Atlanta not see what is going on? The media is aware of the thirst, hunger & attention that many people in Atlanta wants. These need to to manufactor as many black celebrities as possible is so obvious. Bravo, VH1 & E! Have figured out that many single black women will run home & watch all of these tv shows passionately. Why can't Oxygen get a piece of that pie? Black people want to try so hard to hide the many flaws of the black community, but THEY already know what goes on. Let the show be broadcast because there are millions of black women who love these sort of entertainment. See the ratings of Housewives or Atlanta & Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.

all of this is too little too late. THEY already know whhat goes on in the black community. This is what Atlanta wants to be so bad Black Hollywood. Does no one notice Chicago, Detriot, DC & Philly never get any of these shows. The Atlanta entertainment circle needs these shows. V103, Hot107, AJC, all the ATL gossip blogs, One has to ask theyselves where is the critism the loudest? Sabrina Lamb is from New York, if she was an Atlanta woman with this petition stunt no way could she show her face around town because many would have an issue with her trying to take food off their plants. The more reality shows Atlanta can produce, the more STARs the local entertainment circle can feed off of.

Atlanta is a city where many black want & need to be famous or accomplished. Its the perfect city to go to if you want to create a reality show that black women & gay black men will watch
Unfortunately Atlanta is the King of Black Media, its very interesting that BET is staying clear of all these reality shows. Maybe they fear Aaron McGruders voice. There is a reason Atlanta is chosen as the based for all these shows. It also kinda encourages certain types of blacks to move to Atlanta. I don't think its anything to be mad about though.
