Hello,
I'd sure appreciate your suggestions for places to live.
I am moving with a company relocation and about ready to begin househunting.
1. Budget - up to ~$350

2. House/Condo/Townhome? We have a dog so we need a yard - so townhouse or single family

3. Employment Status(commute/work from home) - commute and working in Roswell

4. Children(public school vs. private) We are empty nesters with college-aged kids

5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two - don't know - probably suburban but not too spread out.

6. Easy access to public transit, important or not? I will be using the Marta a couple of times per month
Also will be going to doctors at the Atlanta Medical center a few times per year, but not sure if this should influence my choices or not.

7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood.
-- safe, friendly, and less than a 30 minute commute to work.
-- would rather have a smaller well constructed home than a large showy home.
-- husband is retired so access to pool, fitness, etc would be nice in walking distance
We aren't big spenders, so living in a very expensive or exclusive area wouldn't really be our style.
We do need to consider ability for resale for future relocations.

Thank you for your suggestions on neighborhoods!

$350 is going to be very very tough, even if you're looking for an apartment.

I'm just guessing but I would think up to $350 is $350,000 ....

@ 350K you can have a choice of Ten's of thousands of home. You can get most of what you want in the 250k range.

There are some terrific townhomes in the Crabapple area, and that would be ideal for working in Roswell, but to get the pool/gym part you would have to join an actual gym, also very convenient to Crabapple. Atlanta Fitness is a nice walk away, no pool though. I think the closest gym with a pool is Lifetime Fitness in Alpharetta. Not far, but not walking distance.

Less than 30 minute commute, I would suggest looking in North Fulton; Roswell, Alpharetta, Sandy Springs.
Walking distance to anything is going to be tough to near impossible in many suburban areas of Atlanta.
There are older neighborhoods to be found in North Fulton that have older homes.
MARTA has 3 stations that serve Sandy Springs; North Springs, Sandy Springs, Medical Center. Atlanta Medical Center does not have train service, but there are bus routes that connect from stations to the hospital.
