Reading this board for a few years now there are some posters that seem to have personal problems (lonely, lost job, can't get laid(?)) that they blame on the abstract notion that it's the 'city's' fault, not their own shortcomings.

Atlanta is an exciting place and it is very resilient. We got burned to the ground and rebuilt. We had the highest murder rate at one point and now are relatively safe. We got hid hard by the mortgage crisis but people are moving back and fixing up those neighborhoods. Our job market crumbled but we can all see how many new ones are announced every week. This city has a strong backbone and citizens like Dr. King have embodied that. We won't be brought down.

Yes Atlanta will always be my first love for city. I truly want my city to be and mature to its greatest destiny. For those who don't like our city, thier are plenty of ways to leave.

I wish I could live back in Atlanta, but it won't be for another five years when I retire from the Navy (and there aren't really any Navy bases in Atlanta).

Atlanta is also a blank canvass of sorts. Possibilities and opportunities are here in abundance. A departing Creative Loafing editor last year said something to the effect, "If you want to live in a great city, move to NYC. If you want to be part of building a great city, move to Atlanta."

Atlanta can have an influence on these things. I guess its a quality of life concern. I hear women say all the time they can not find a man here in Atlanta, but they could in other places. No reason to be offended though. people just have to give things time.
