His biggest fans sort of admire that... Now if he went to a school and told the kids, "85% of what I say in my songs are gross exaggerations or outright lies" then that would be something...
This is true, but anytime an adult takes the time to come out and work with kids it's bound to have a beneficial effect. In the photo Mr. Mane looks like your typical, slightly pudgy young man. Seeing that ought to make it much easier for the little ones to separate out the reality from the image in his videos.

Hopefully Gucci explained to the kids that making it in music requires a ton of work, a lot of smarts, and also good old fashioned luck. So if you want a career in hip hop, the best bet is to go to college and rap on the side. That way, at least if it doesn't work out, like it won't for most people, you have a back-up plan.

Anything that helps convince kids that they aren't going to be able to drop out of school at age 16, rap on the corner, and be the next Ludacris is a good lesson!

lol, Gucci Mane showing up at career day can't hurt, I guess. The kids have seen much worse just living in the inner city, I'm sure.

As long as he delivers a positive message and gives insightful advice, I'm sure his visit will be helpful.

Gucci was once a college student and he can actually conduct an intelligent interview so I don't have any issues with him speaking to school aged kids

I'm a rap fan, but I don't think most rappers (i.e. Gucci Mane) are appropriate role models for children. They make music for adults, and 90% of the subject matter doesn't exactly gel with "stay in school/just say no/the only safe sex is no sex/etc".

It's admirable that he's taking time to give back to the community, but "do as I say and not as I do" barely works with kids who are glued to BET and YouTube for half of their waking hours.

young black kids better get in the books, no skills and you may be looking at a cell after you and start doing dumb stuff to get money. they need to bring in aircraft mechanics 3D drafters folks like that who make good money and always will have some kind of job, if they are willing to move.rap and sports too much luck involved to go pro.but you can use sports to get educated for free, rap mess cannot help the masses of black males who unemployed because they do not do any research on careers or pay attenion to anything but rappers and ball players.
