Great job republican lead legislature for forcing your will on a transit agency that you don't fund. I'm voting them and Deal all out in the next election.

Forcing MARTA to take cues from private industry and to operate with some level of efficiency? Awful news.

Please go back to Cobb county and stay out of MARTA affairs!
The state in no way funds the agency, yet jerks it around and dangles carrots all day! Why should legislators from South GA, mountain areas, and the suburbs have any say so in a transit agency that the residents of Fulton and DeKalb counties funds themselves!?

I think they should privatize para-transit and back-office functions. But have serious issues with the state passing a bill to force it when they contribute no money to it themselves. MARTA's new director will hopefully do it himself or if not then Atlanta / Dekalb / Fulton should do it.

So now you are against big government interfering with local issues?

LOL.

I guess you only like government involvement when it involves handouts.

To be fair, it is mainly because it is only the local government funding the thing and the state's lack of helping.

I always feel like I'm stuck in the center between you two ideologically.

I think some privatizing elements of MARTA is good, but I also don't trust the state legislature that has always spent lot so of lip time to trashing MARTA, the city of Atlanta, and the airport (which is widely successful) to really choose the best ways to do it. The devil is always in those details.

How arrogant can GA State officials be. It is all about power and not Marta. Sound like they are trying to set a precedent in the OCGA and then go after privatizing Hartsfield airport, which is the State of Georgia goal.

You are probably right.

It's political chicanery like this that makes laws like the 1965 Voting Rights Act absolutely necessary. Because the way these state lawmakers act these days, it might as well be 1913, not 2013.

I only hope that my political representation along with the political representation in Fulton and Atlanta have the guts to fight back, and fight back like the great battle of the heavens above.

Sinister forces need to keep their tainted hands off of MARTA.

Because those are the people in Fulton county are the ones who are paying for it Dr. Democrat.

Sincerely,
An ashamed liberal

MARTA wasn't getting any better the way it was going. Maybe this way improvements can be made without interference of legislature.

gtcorntdog, can't tell if city-data troll..or very intuitive.
