I keep hearing about crime in this area? Is it true? Some friends have told me that I will get my house for my money living up North (Kennesaw, Acworth etc) but then my commute will be far for everything I like to do (work and church at least).

The schools in Mableton (or Greater Mableton) are good. emma31, listen to KevK and not to people who don't really know about schools or school systems.

Schools of note:
Elementary: Mableton, Nickajack

High School: Pebblebrook, South Cobb, Campbell

Um...Kennesaw/Acworth vs. Mableton? Mableton trumps both! Crime is not a major problem in the area. A little secret about many metro atlantans (most of which are not native to atlanta)...1) you will be hard-pressed to find many atlantans (by atlantans, I mean the entire metro) who have truly been to the various areas/cities/towns/neighborhoods, etc. through the metro area. 2) Many atlantans will say that an area has a crime problem if, in their opinion, the area has too many black and brown faces.

Kennesaw/Acworth are largely white and very suburban. Mableton is closer in, convenient with a diversity that is wonderful. You will feel comfortable, safe, and...trust me...happy with your decision (if you choose Mableton).

I hope this helps! Good Luck!

This realy does help a lot as it provides me with some great information. I will have to make out time to drive in the Mableton area and check out some of the subdivisions there. Maybe another thread for people to post too! Thanks!
