Hey everybody! I am a 31 year old single guy who is looking to take a relocation opportunity from the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area to Atlanta, GA. I don't know how many people have lived in Scranton, Pennsylvania, but it is indeed a hell-hole. There is high unemployment, a culture of heavy drinking and drugs, lack of motivation, political corruption, potholes everywhere, and some of the cloudiest/dreariest/rainiest weather in the country. The nightlife scene is abysmal as well.

I plan on living in the city of Atlanta and am interested in safe neighborhoods that tend to attract the 25-35 year old demographic. I'm looking for mostly apartments or townhouses. How is the crime rate in the city? What is the nightlife life? Would love information from transplants as well and how they adjusted to Atlanta. I know it can be hot and humid there, but it definitely has WAAAAY more sunshine than Scranton can ever dream of!

Where is work? or are you independently wealthy?

To say try living in X does no good if you work in Y. And it would take you 90+min a day to get to/from work.

I will be working near the Atlanta-Hartsfield International Airport. Which brings up my other concern -- traffic.

Look for neighborhoods that are close to a MARTA station. That way you can ride MARTA to the airport.

I think he said he's working near the airport, not at the airport. I guess you could take the MARTA to College Park or something, but depending on where he's at that may not help much...

Yepp, I will be working near the airport so I do want to factor in traffic. I'm at the process at finding which neighborhoods fit my needs. I provided a preferred price range assuming I will be living alone. I can deal with more traffic if it means a better neighborhood. What is the nightlife like in the region? I know it is a large metropolitan area, especially compared to Scranton, PA. It also seems fairly sunny there. Does it ever feel too gray and cloudy? It is gray and overcast in Scranton A LOT.

Grant Park! I work at the airport, and it's a 15 minute drive.
