I was up in Sandy Springs one day and had their wonderful ox tails at Chef Rob's.

My wife and I are on the never ending search of finding the best of each cuisine in Atlanta. I've been to most of the W. Indian and even E. Indian restaraunts mentioned. Although it is a matter of personal taste my favorite overall Jamaican restaraunt is Kool Runnings on Memorial Drive. They have the selection and cook it all fresh and well (regulars + ackee & saltfish, callaloo, fried dumplin, etc). I must say my favorite Oxtail (lima beans with spinners) is down the street at Island Cafe (They have manish water too) on Memorial Dr.

If you are in the city Taste of the Tropics across from West End Mall on Lee St is good too. They have the best patties (made from scratch on-site) and their Jerk Chicken has a little kick, but has a smokey sweetness at the same time. Absolutely wonderful. Might just go there for lunch today.

IMHO best overall is Kool Runnings.

Kohinoor is an Indian restaurant in Norcross, off of Rockbridge Rd. If this has already been offered, my apologies. My boyfriend and I love to go there.

Further to these posts, can anyone recommend a good Caribbean bakery in the metro Atlanta area? I'm looking to special order a black cake for a wedding.

Thanks in advance.

Um that may be hard to find but have you tried asking one of the restaurants if they know anywhere to get it? That would be your best bet. I did a google search for you here

I'm originally from NY and miss the culture from back home. Especially my Caribbean food until I discovered Scotch Bonnet Jamaican Eatery located at 4454 Campbellton Road SW, Atlanta, GA 30331. Their food will take you back to JA. It's not for the tourist type. We're talking about real Jamaican food - Jerk Chicken, Curry Chicken, Brown Stew Chicken, Oxtails, Curry Goat, Soup, Beef & Chicken Patties, Coco Bread, Plantains, Sauteed Fish, Curry Shrimp and more. Their phone number is (404) 344-3359. Try it and spread the word. Real Caribbean food is available in Atlanta. - Jackie O

Hello all! I know this post is very old now, but I was wondering if anyone can help me out on this. I too just moved from Brooklyn and haven't the faintest idea where to get good West Indian/Carribean food.
