I'm looking to purchase a home, where I can help make the city a better place to live. I'm a male in my 30's with no kids, so schools and safety aren't that important. I can tough it out in an up and coming neighborhood if needed. However, I'm not much of a maintenance person, so I would prefer newer construction. In which neighborhoods should I look? I love to walk. A 10-15 minute walk to a Marta train station would be ideal so I can get to the airport, Phillips, Piedmont Park and the Georgia Dome.

1. Budget -- 100,000
2. House/Condo/Townhome? -- house or townhome (no condo)
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home) -- commute to Perimeter
4. Children(public school vs. private) -- none
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two -- Urban
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not? -- somewhat important (easy access to Phillips Arena, Dome)
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood -- older, middle class or professional (I just don't want to be kept up at night by partying)

Edgewood and Kirkwood.
Both are on MARTA's east line and easily accessible to stations with a 10-15 minute walk or bike ride. Both have infill construction.
I also commute via MARTA to Perimeter Center, its about 30-45 minutes of stress-free ride.

Can you find three examples of these $100k "newer construction" homes the poster is seeking in these areas?

Can you find three examples of $100k homes that wouldn't need substantial rehab or investment to be comfortably liveable in these areas?

Yea, I think Eastside is going to be hard to get in to at under 100K. If you don't mind places that are a little further back on the revitalization / gentrification path try Adair Park, West End, College Park, or East Point. You can find houses there that are walking distance to MARTA in your price range there. Otherwise you are going to have to beef up your budget a lot.
