Don't forget the Mmpt, Westside Park, Mims Park, Streetcars. Eventually things like Fort McPherson will redevelop. Oh, and all the movie studios. The next five years will be absolutely huge for this city.

It is great what all is going on in Atlanta! Gotta say, though, I have been spending a lot of time in Boston this year, and the construction and development that city is experiencing is close to incredible! Can't wait to see half as many projects going on in Atlanta as there.

Yeah, it's tough not to be excited, and a complete turnaround from the mood in this city 24 months ago (stadium was looking bleak, CFBHOF looking bleak, Civil Rights Center looking bleak, Beltline still just a proposal, Buckhead Atlanta was dead in the water, PCM wasn't anything yet, no new apartment development in DT/MT/BH, Caterpillar and Baxter and movie studios hadn't been announced, water wars deadline was pending, etc etc etc).

The way I see Atlanta is that it grew up very fast in terms of population--faster than our civic establishments and urban landscape could grow. Now we are going back and building the things that a city of 6 million should have. People are often unimpressed with Atlanta given how large it is, and that's not altogether unfair compared to some cities of 5-6 million in this country; now it is time to catch up to what the expectations of a city this size should be.

Buckhead Village will be the largest walkable outdoor district in Atlanta. People drive over 100 miles to Lenox Square each weekend to shop. They are going to go crazy when this opens.

PCM and Krog St Market is really going to transform Va-Hi and Inman Park

All three of these developments are bringing new stores and restaurants that are not currently in Atlanta

An equally important mark of the city's growth is the way our suburbs have become so dense, urban and diversified. Lots of great urban planning going on in these new population/employment centers.

I totally agree with that. Very good explanation of our current situation.

All of this makes Fuqua's Wal Mart strip mall in Glenwood Park look even more pathetic.

Remember the 191 building, as of today it is over 80 percent lease. Coca Cola relocating 1000 workers to Sun Trust downtown building. New construction of Civil Rights, NCAA College Hall of Fame, and soon to be Falcons Stadium. Homes completed renovated from the Eastside Kirkwood into the city of Atlanta. In the West end area whites and blacks including me buying up renovated homes with character by the droves. New food places on Edgewood, Dekalb Avenue, and Ponce De Leon. Beltline on any given day you have many people walking, running, commuting to work by bike. New apartment construction near Grady Hospital. Great sports bars near CNN Center. Quite frankly it is too many things happen to write about. Oh how I love Atlanta !
I think all of this is just the tip of the iceberg for Atlanta...I see much more happening in the not-too-distant future that will really bring positive change to the city.
