My daughter lives in central London and says that Londoners are generally quite supportive of the Eye. Parisians were initially critical of the Eiffel Tower and Louvre Pyramid.
I agree! I'm from London, lived there for 33 years until coming to the A.....and have never ONCE heard someone from London say they didn't like the London Eye.
I remember the excitement as it was being assembled by the Thames in 1999 and if I remember rightly it was never meant to be a permanent fixture BUT it proved so popular that there was no way it was coming down again.
If the Atlanta wheel could have even 20% of the impact of the London Eye I think it'll be a success.

That's true, but it's a fair point in this case, since it's the utilities that power the Tabernacle. Those utilities were most likely updated or at least known about when they turned that church into the House of Blues in the '90s.

I imagine once they get the foundation down putting the actual wheel up probably only takes a few days.
