Does anyone have suggestions for local companies that can come pick up and dispose of an old couch without charging a zillion dollars? We cannot donate it to charity, as it's in really bad shape.

We heard about 1-800-GOT-JUNK, but some of the online mentions seem to suggest those guys are pricey.

Anyone know anything about Atlanta Junk Removal .Com | $25 Budget Hauling Service | Ga Trash Appliance, TV, Furniture, Electronic, FREE Offers And More Any other suggestions?

I'm in Atlanta, and we have bulk trash pick up once a month, depending on location in the city. I've left an old couch out on the curb, and they take it for free. Also, there are always people looking around for old furniture - one mans trash is another mans treasure!

I'm not sure if you have that service in ksaw, but check if you do before you pay somebody to haul it away for you.

Thanks for the reply. We're actually in-town (Westside). How does this trash pick-up stuff work if we live in a condo building? (We're asking around in the condo, and bizarrely no one seems to know how to advise us.)

Here is the bulk pick up schedule, which I would assume your condo building follows as well when you need to throw out furniture:

Have you tried calling your building manager to ask where to leave bulk trash? I'm not sure how condo buildings work, but if it's anything like apartments, most people just leave the big furniture near the dumpsters. Maybe somebody else on this forum who lives in a condo building can be of more help.

If you are in a condo, ask someone who is on the HOA board, or the building manager. We actually have a trash room where the dumpsters are, and people leave unwanted furniture there. You could also call Salvation Army to pick it up.

Does the city of Atlanta handle trash at multi-family buildings?

Many thanks for the advice, everyone. We're hoping to get some direction from management ASAP.

You could always put an ad on Craigslist:

Free couch, as-is, come haul it away.

I bet within a day someone comes to get it.
