I'm currently thinking of moving to the Sorelle buildings in Lindbergh Dr., east of Piedmont (just a couple of blocks from Lindbergh Marta station). However so many people have asked me if I think it's safe that now I am beginning to wonder....

Does anyone have any info on this?

I looked at the different crime maps and it does seem to have more "Burglary" events than my current area.... now I'm scared... .should I be? I don't care so much about car break ins as they happen all over Atlanta, but I certainly care about the possibility of an apartment break in!

I also saw some "Assault" events listed which also concern me. The area seems nice enough (Lindbergh Dr. just east of Piedmont) and does not look that shady or similar.... am I wrong?

If you know this area please share some insight!

The only real issue here is the sketchy apartment complex across Lindbergh from Sorelle. If you have been in Atlanta for a while, you might remember that it was the scene of a domestic dispute that resulted in the killing of one police officer and the serious injury of another. Had it not been for the recession, this would have been razed by now. As for now, there have been a couple of attempts to redevelop it (Walmart's attempt to build there was solidly rebuked by the community), and it will no doubt happen sooner or later. But I think your biggest challenge livng there would be protecting yourself against nuisance crime.

Is this location particularly convenient for you? What are the pluses drawing you to the complex?

Well, we're 2 people (me and my wife) with only 1 car, so being at walking distance to a MARTA train station is a plus; aside from that, I work about mile and a half from this location (Garden Hills), which makes my commute a joke...

I liked the building and its facilities. Just worried about the fact that I am new to Atlanta (been here less than a year) and everyone keeps asking me if I will be safe in that part of the city (and I actually think that where Sorelle is located in particular looks pretty Ok and nice)...

Any other comments regarding general safety there? I appreciate your help!

Have you looked at Post Peachtree Hills--not as close to marta but still close and it is gated. Your reason for liking Sorelle make sense--close to Marta and shopping and your work...and you are going in with your eyes open about some property crime risk.

We did look at that one, as well as Post Lindbergh, but the prices were higher :-S

Sorelle is supposed to be gated (you need a card to get inside the parking lot and the buildings), but then again, so is where I live and we have had car break ins inside the "gated" parking lot...

I just wish I knew someone who lives there (or who knows someone who does) to have some primary sources of information!

My husbands cousin just moved in there and is coming over to pick up some things she stored at our place. I'll see what her impressions are and post them.

I did speak to her. As you said, the building is quite secure and mostly what she has encountered there are young professionals. She loves the easy access to I-85 and Midtown. She did say that the one thing the immediate neighborhood needs is a supermarket., but you have Target nearby for the basics.
