I disagree. I am closing on a home in the high 280s in unincorporated dekalb, about 2 miles from I-20, and about 7 miles from downtown that is 3 years old. I have no problem with the location nor crime, and know several people that have lived there for quite some time. I'm hoping that between two lawyer salaries you have saved enough for a downpayment for a home at least around 300k, but I do not know your finances. If you come down and spend some time visiting and looking, you'll find something that balances out.....

I only feel this way because I HATE spending time in my car going TO work. I'm very unproductive my first hour if I've just spent the past 40 minutes trying to drive at 20 mph stop-n-go.
