My wife is getting transferred to Dobbins AFB and I'll be working in Alpharetta. We are looking to rent a house in the ~$1500 range. We are in our late 20s and have two children in elementary school. Any neighborhood recommendations that are safe, clean, have a great public elementary school and a reasonable commute?

Thanks

...Start your search in the Walton HS and Pope HS clusters of East Cobb County, an area with some of the best schools in the Atlanta metro region that is roughly equidistant between Dobbins and Alpharetta via the Georgia Highway 120 corridor (...Walton HS is regarded by many to be the top public high school in the state of Georgia).

Also check the Roswell HS cluster of North Fulton County and the Lassiter HS and Wheeler HS clusters of East Cobb.

East Cobb and North Fulton have some of the best schools in the state of Georgia and this area will also be one of the easiest commutes (relatively speaking) in the metro area for where both you and your wife will each be working.

Too close to Dobbins makes it a much tougher commute for you to and from Alpharetta and too close to Alpharetta much it a much tougher commute for your wife to and from Dobbins.

Also, the real estate market for single-family homes in North Metro Atlanta, particularly in areas like East Cobb and North Fulton where the schools have the highest-ratings in the state of Georgia, has been really hot as of late, so don't be afraid to be aggressive and exhaustive when attempting to find what you are looking for in that area where there is so much rising demand at the moment.

Good luck with your search, I hope that you find something that you both really like and I hope that you all enjoy living in the "A".

Agree with all that. I'd also look at the eastern half of the Lassiter footprint as well.
