Delta is adding another flight to Hilton Head, bringing it to 4 each day instead of 3. Not bad for a brand new flight.

Two new frequencies to Los Angeles: American Airlines going from 3 to 4 flights per day, and Spirit going from 1 to 2 flights per day.

There are going to be five carriers on the route this summer:

Delta (+/- 11 flights per day)
American (4 flights per day)
Spirit (2 flights per day)
Southwest (2-3 flights per day)
Frontier (<1 flight per day)

Impressive service and a highly competitive route. Also amazing how much Southwest has deteriorated, especially with the 737MAX groundings.

Well I have status on American and Delta this year, so I'm not complaining.

It feels like Southwest's move to buy Airtran was rash way to solve several problems they had in their expansion, but they never really had a plan for harnessing the whole worth of what Airtran was.

They got key international flights that are good for shorter 737 style flights and match their consumer market. They got access into Atlanta that they had wanted for sometime, but they never really had a plan for how to use how much worth in value Airtran had actually built up on their network.

Excellent post, and my thoughts exactly as to the bolded. Southwest has already ended all flights to Mexico City, and have closed their station there. It seems as if they have become rudderless the past few years.

It appears Delta's Atlanta to Shanghai flight suspension might happen soon. United has already suspended some of its China flights.
