Friendship Baptist rejects Atlanta's $13.5 million offer for stadium site (AJC)

I always wanted it on the larger north site, so I'm loving this! The south site is too cramped by the AUC and Castleberry Hill, but the north site is at the intersection of two huge streets. I hope they build it north, where the view from the stadium will be better, and it'll be higher on the hill for all to see (and not far from Mims Park).

And the MARTA access is terrible.

The North site would be TERRIBLE for transit access. Basically as awful as Turner field is. The close corner is a 0.8 mile walk to the Civic Center station and the far side would be 1.1 miles which is the same distance from the close corner of Turner Field to the Georgia State station.

I hope Friendship Baptist enjoys even more traffic and tailgating around them on Sundays with all the extra people that will have to drive to Falcons games and the new parking lots where the Georgia Dome are now.

The Vine City Marta Station is right down the street. A 0.5 mile walk

0.5 miles? Really? That's an EASY walk.

Get out of your cars and walk, Atlanta! It's good for ya! Sheesh.

If you're trying to encourage people to take MARTA to the new stadium, yes it is. Also, Vine City is not designed to handle that amount of foot traffic without being in tandem with the Dome station (which would be 3/4 of a mile from the new facility and virtually useless).

Trust me.
