This may change with the addition of so many apartments to the area as well as the new Emory proton center which will have retail and is rumored to have already leased to Starbucks. Another option within walking distance from there is Papi's

Quizno's, Willy's, a Pita place, what's left of the AT&T food court, and maybe the Arby's are all that's within a 3-4 block walk.

I'm surprised that the AT&T food court is mostly closed up. Last time I was in there, the Subway and the Asian place were all that was open. With that big building full of people, you'd think they would have a built-in clientele.

Why do people considering areas along Monroe to be Midtown...that's far from Peachtree Street...and that area is not pedestrian friendly at all...

Uh, areas on Monroe are certainly midtown. The east edge of Piedmont Park is Monroe and Piedmont park is most definitely midtown.

Here is what wikipedia has to say about the matter:

Geography and nomenclature[edit]

The definition and meaning of "Midtown" has varied over time, expanding from an original concept of a small neighborhood "mid-way" between Downtown and Buckhead. Boundary definitions vary by the source. In many cases, Midtown is a quasi-legal entity for zoning, law enforcement, and taxi purposes. It is defined by the City of Atlanta to include the business district along Peachtree Street as well as the residential area surrounding Piedmont Park. The Midtown Alliance defines Midtown as a larger area of approximately four square miles that, in addition to the city's definition, also includes the neighborhoods of Ansley Park, Sherwood Forest, Atlantic Station, Home Park, and Loring Heights.

I would disagree about including Home Park (or anything west of I-75/Connector). I guess the real question is where Virginia Highlands begins. Inman middle school?

My daughter and her fiance live in Midtown (Peachtree and 7th) and could care less about this. They have countless takeout options within walking distance.

No. Monroe Drive is the delineator.

I really only consider areas west of Piedmont to be Midtown. I separate that from the Midtown SFH district. When I think of Midtown, I think of the urban, highly walkable district, not suburban paradise.

Here's a midtown in Times Square....urban Mcdonalds certainly exist.

People say we need variety in Midtown for restaurants...surely, a few fast food joints would be appreciated. Not everyone is into 3-4 star dinners and lunches every night.

I though you were all about dense, urban, cosmopolitan and non thug/low income.

Nothing dense, urban, cosmopolitan and high class about fast food.

So you're saying Mcdonalds brings thug cultures? I never once implied this....Mcdonalds exists in all parts of the world...not just low income areas...kind of shows where your mind is at on this subject to be honest.
