City Girl 332:

Why would I want to go to a church where I couldn't be out and bring a partner? What if I want to meet other out gay Christians and worship in a safe space? Most every denomination now has programs for congregations that want to declare themselves gay-friendly, and I was hoping that maybe one of the churches up 85 would fit the bill.

My gay brother and his DH live in Norcross, their good friends in Peachtree Corners. The neighbors in both neighborhoods were welcoming and inclusive.
BTW, the church I mentioned before is the one they attend. It's about 20 minutes away in North Druid Hills.

You're welcome! I think that area will be a good fit.

Not all churches believe the exact same thing on this and many other issues. There often tons of different small, sub-beliefs between different churches and different religions. This issue is no different.

That has always been a fatal flaw of all the anti-gay marriage laws. They violate the first amendment when they refuse to recognize a church's gay marriage, even if those churches represent a minority belief. Our country has freedom of religion to protect those with minority beliefs.
Bottom line is NOT what various churches say about it , nor what society says about it , nor what individuals say about it. But the important thing is WHAT the BIBLE , which is God's Word , says about it.

oh boy, here we go again.

If we were 100% true to the Bible:

-slavery would need to be allowed again
-children would need to be killed for disobeying their parents
-prostitutes would need to be killed
-etc

Modern society has built up to the point of rejecting Biblical teachings that are no longer consistent with modern morality on a whole host of issues. We're just now reaching the tipping point on the subject of same sex relationships.

Bottom line is you need to find a hobby or cause to support on the weekends instead of dredging up old threads just to share your unsolicited opinion of society. K thx.

I mean that was kinda my point though. They all teach from the same Bible regardless of what the beliefs are. I'm not religious but even I know that much. It would be kinda like me going to a school that teaches that blacks are inferior.

That's all Old Testament stuff (which is kind of ironic, considering Jews seem pretty tolerant of gays). That book sure says a lot, but it might be a good idea to think for yourself before you go killing your first born or splattering lamb's blood on your front door.

Before you go judging others, just ask yourself this: What do you suppose Jesus would think of gay people?

You can decide that for yourself...but me, I'm pretty sure he'd be cool with it.

As for finding a gay friendly church, hmm, I'm not sure which ones are, but I do know this: they all seem to come recruiting members at Atanta Pride. So just go to that festival and look at all the floats and you'll see that you have a pretty wide choice for gay friendly churches! They've got to be all over the metro.
