It's actually the unusually high crime rate that concerns me, not "the Spanish." I'm probably just being paranoid, though... after all, crime statistics are a completely subjective thing and have nothing to do with safety.

I've never heard anybody on this board say anything like that.

I know I probably came off a bit too abrasive, but I've actually seen people on this board say that the Duluth, Norcross, Embry Hills areas are "sketchy". It leaves me scratching my head every time. Crime can and does happen everywhere in this metro area, but I'd hardly consider those places sketchy. One day, my boyfriend and I were looking for a building where a Sprint event was being held over by GA Tech. We accidentally passed the place and ended up somewhere on the west side. Now that was sketchy! People were standing on every corner and what appeared to be a crackhead eating a chicken wing started approaching our car! We high-tailed it out of there so fast!

Parts, not all, of the neighborhoods that you cite are sketchy, particularly the apartment complexes there that are located near the expressways. My brother lives in Norcross and my father in Embry Hills. Both would agree with me. The suburbs no longer have a lock on safety.
