Actually I live in ROSWELL and it's in COBB. Sandy Springs is only a few minutes away ... not even 5 minutes down JOHNSON'S FERRY. I live in the WALTON School district which is one of the top schools in the nation. I can be on I75 in less than 5 minutes and I don't have to get on 285 to go anywhere. I've lived in the area almost all of my life except for a short period in North Miami Beach and a shorter period in Manhattan.

Please understand that you can live in Cobb and have Roswell postal address. But technically, you are not within the city limits of Roswell. This is no different from Dunwoody and some Sandy Springs residents having Atlanta address.

You are right, bbuch. 3 hrs is bit of an exaggeration, especially from East Cobb. I meant no ill will to the original poster. I just hate seeing people get suckered into thinking that a development in Barrow county is only a few minutes away from the Atlanta city proper.

No I really didn' think it was three hours but I do agree that life shouldn't be wasted on commuting to and from work. An honest 20 minute commute would be fine obviously less would be better. The most important things for us are quality of life and good schools. Unfortunately with the way our relo usually works, we have very little time to find a house and temporary housing with small kids should be avoided at all costs (we know from past experiences). So any information is really helpful and appreciated.

I'd have a hard time convincing my spouse that private schools are worth it so I'm pretty much stuck with finding the towns with the good public schools.

If you want go to I-75/I-285 intersection, East Cobb is best choice. Walton, Pope and Lassiter are top three high school districts in East Cobb.

My guess is less than 20 mins. I have a co-worker who lives in Lassiter high school district. He drives down I-75, I-285 then up I-85 to Duluth everyday. Won't recommend since it takes him at least one hour from East Cobb to Duluth.

20 minutes! Great. Would you know about how far it would be to the airport from there as my spouse will be traveling often for work?

Well right there you're screwed, you won't fit in down here. Anyway Roswell, Sandy Springs, or Dunwoody...They're all pretty much the same! Only difference maybe is that Roswell at least has somewhat of a downtown. All pretty expensive, maybe Roswell the cheapest of the bunch.

I guess then I should mention I'm an atheist and a democrat.....but kidding (or maybe not) aside someone mentioned East Cobb, which I guess means parts of Marietta so in terms of a commute would Roswell be that much further?
