Ah, yes, the Hinson McAuliffe era. McAuliffe was completely obsessed with the presence of pornography in Fulton County, and in the process of trying to eliminate it made national headlines. He was like a cross between Eliot Ness, Carry Nation and Savaranola.
I always wondered how he knew about those peep show booths in the first place.

Strip clubs. Hey, I think they ought to be allowed to exist, but, that doesn't mean I like them. I think folks ought to be able to own guns, but I think folks should choose not to do so.

The irony of strip club banning/strict regulation is that it simply forces the activity into less safer environments such as house and hotel parties which usually don't have security or cleanliness standards.

Any time you ban something, it just creates a black market for it.

What a coincidence. I'm the parent of three daughters, too! And three granddaughters.

Probably cleaner than the average entertainment venue. My cousin was a dancer in her younger years and said the two venues where she worked (Gold Club, Gold Rush) ran a pretty tight ship.
It was probably motivated by the knowledge that the city would love to find any reason to shut them down.

Same people who are against strip clubs view porn on their home computer (look at the search history), smoked dope before, had sex before marriage, drink alcohol, etc

There's a big difference b/t Follies and the Gold Rush (never been to the Gold Club tho). Follies is a free for all

The Gold Club ran a pretty tight ship? I'm not sure what that means in this context.
