Ya know? You would think developers should already know this by now.

Thank God 12th and Midtown knows what they are doing in regards to adding new stores to this market. Atlantic Station has about 12 months to get it right before PCM and BA opens and changes the game.

The previous owner that brought these awful stores to AS is doing the same thing with his development in Alpharetta called "Avalon"

The experiential retail component comprises 570,000 sf, including the following committed tenants:

Whole Foods, Regal Cinemas, Orvis, Anthropologie, Paper Source, Athleta, Banana Republic, Everything But Water, Lululemon, Ted’s Montana Grill, Fly Wheel, Free People, Dry Bar, Kona Grill, Luxury Nails, Pinkberry, Fab’rik, Janie & Jack, Van Michael Aveda Salon, Arhaus, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, PNC Bank, Bocado Burger Bar, Ford Fry, Destination Maternity, C Wonder, Marlow’s Tavern, Gymboree, Fab’rik, Gap, Sage, L’Occitane, Bantam & Biddy and Cru Food & Wine.

Why do they need to get rid of stores that people are shopping in? People say the same about Target and Publix too, and it baffles me. It's not just a shopping destination... it's also a home for the thousands who live there, and those are exactly the types of stores that make it a convenient place for normal people who don't want to spend obscene amounts of money on specialty items every time they run to the store.

It would be good to have unique offerings alongside them, but the well-known places attract a lot of businness too. What it needs is to have a good mix of the two, not cater to one extreme or the other.

Post of the day!

The majority of people (those that do not get on Forums like this) like stores that are familiar and don't necessarily look for specialty shops and such. That's just the way it is. This can clearly be seen by the amount of people that shop in Old Navy, H&M, etc in Atlantic Station on the weekends.

I LOVE your comment about there needing to be a good mixture. That would cater to both crowds...

Because having a fresh new tenant line up would do more for that area shopping wise and would bring more shoppers there. Maybe Topshop uniqulo Mango 2 or 3 highend stores. I would rather have a sneaker store like Wish in little 5 points that carry a better variety of sneakers than journeys.. If your going to repeat stores then have some good ones Urban outfitters and American Apperal would have done great there. Or some of these suburban stores like G by guess or Zumiez. The Grove in LA is exactly what Atlantic station should look like. Out of all the stores there H&M gets the most traffic thats all the bags u see when walking around there most of the time a store like Apple or Sony would have been good there.

avalon is DOA. the developer keeps losing signees because the development is taking so long. mark my words, avalon is not going to get built. it was about a year ago that they 'broke ground' on the project and it still looks like the same ocean of mud today as it did then.
