I'm trying to decide where to live, and I've been reading some really good things about Atlanta and have met some people that have even lived there. Also, the cost of living seems okay. What are some good places to live that are also affordable. Please give me also a good idea of the rent for a 2 and 3 bedroom house or apartment.

Well it all depends on where you will be working once you move to Atlanta. That's because most decisions regarding where to live in Metro Atlanta are made with the thought of reducing the impact of the length and severity of one's rush hour commute as much as possible.

it is also a very good idea to have a job lined up before moving to the Atlanta area which is still very slowly shaking off the effects of one of the worst economic downturns since the Great Depression.

Get a job lined up in Metro Atlanta first, and then, using specified criteria (like the highest amount that you are willing or able to spend on rent each month, whether you need access to schools, whether you would like to live in a location that is suburban or urban, the location of your job, etc) come back and ask us where is a good place to live that is affordable with those important items in mind.

AFTER and ONLY AFTER you have a job lined up in Metro Atlanta and know where you will be working in the approximately 30-county Greater Atlanta region, answer each of the 7 questions below so that Atlanta-area posters can best help and assist you in finding the right place to live so that you will not end up with the world's worst rush hour commute.
