I'm all for it. I'm from New Orleans & if you take a look at the lighting that they did on the Superdome, it completely changes the skyline view of the city from the north. NOLA has always had some very well lit buildings, but the new stuff you can do with LED takes it to the next level.

I say this as a professional lighting person:

I am up for LED updates to buildings, but I do not want to see things like chasing text and pictures.

Things I don't like are buildings such as the Cira Center in Philly:

The Kansas City Marriott Downtown:

Agbar Tower in Barcelona:

I think things like that are fun for special occasions, but shouldn't be the daily look of the building. I prefer much more subdued, while still dramatic, building lighting. For instance, the Empire State Building in NYC:

Mostly basic while still being somewhat dramatic.

i've advocated for LED street lights, but when it comes to the skyline, i think certain things would be nice with LED highlighting, but other things stand out well on their own. for example, the BoA plaza would look silly with LED lights all over it.

The BOA is perfect the way it is. Its very elegant at night.

I agree with you on this one.

The LEDs on those photos are too far apart to be pixel mapped for images, as opposed to have something lighting the physical building.

The one exception this I might be ok with is I liked what they did to the Bellsouth building during the '96 Olympics. I kind of wish they just left it as it was. A bit flashy, but they building is just a concrete fortress without it.
