Old news, but I didn't see any conversation about it here. Weird seeing as it's so important right now. I'm liking Jere Morehead! This guy's amazing. UGA recently sent top faculty around the state for economic discussion tours and events. Hopefully we'll see more luring in of jobs and business. Tech, GSU, UGA and GRU should open up a joint economic development office. I guess this is homage to Sleig Center at Terry though

Why are you obsessing over UGA lately?

Probably more to do with UGA wanting in on the Atlanta market. More about UGA than Georgia. Atlanta has more than enough via GT and Emory and other schools. It's not like we are short on business expertise. In fact, GT and Emory are better. UGA just wants in on the party.

Wonder how many tuition dollars are going to support the rent and salaries for the office. Doesn't the State of Georgia already have an economic development office?

Any idea on what is going on with the Crum building and GT's plan to build a 24 story building consisting of technology office space and a data center on that site?

That would seem to be a great way to help seamlessly merge Tech Square with the rest of Midtown.

GT already has an economic development office in Atlanta.

The state of GA also has a really top notch economic development team based (guess where) in Atlanta.

UGA doesn't need to do this. This is an example of why costs continue to rise at public universities. Problematic.

I don't see why. As said above, there are multiple economic development offices around Atlanta. GT IMO already represents Atlanta.

I agree! I wish they would go ahead and settle whatever needs to be settled and get to work!

FYI tuition doesn't go towards the economic development office.

Tech's plan for the project has already been approved but according to their current timetable, construction will not start until 2015.
