Hello,

We are currently looking at a home in the Cumming area. Can anyone confirm as to how good their schools are particularly I'm guessing North Forysth? The home district would be Coal Mountain for our one child, then because the other child is special needs they would be transported to Whitlow elementary. Also is this area pretty good as far as diversity go? Right now we're renting in Fulton and are looking to buy. Would have preferred Cobb county but the area/homes we like get snatched up like hotcakes so unfortunately we've had to expand our search. I work in Cobb county but currently commute off of 400, so I'm familiar with the traffic and how bad it can be at certain times.

Thanks a lot for any information you all can provide!

Coal Mountain Elementary School feeds into nearby North Forsyth Middle School which feeds into neighboring North Forsyth High School.

All three schools in question are highly-rated schools, though the schools in the North Forsyth High School feeder zone/cluster are not necessarily as highly-regarded as the schools are in the feeder zones for Lambert, South Forsyth and West Forsyth high schools in Forsyth County, nor are the schools in the North Forsyth feeder zone as highly-regarded as the schools are in East Cobb and West Cobb county.

Also, with a demographic make-up that ranges between 80-90%+ white, the North Forsyth feeder zone area is not as diverse as other parts of Metro Atlanta, but the area is slowly and steadily becoming increasingly more diverse as outer-suburban development continues to make its way into the area from Atlanta.

North Forsyth County is also much, much more diverse than in years past when the area was pretty much 100% white and non-whites were actively-discouraged from coming into the area.

We were looking in the Cumming area as well and just to forewarn you there is low inventory right now. We weren't able to find anything there for us but I wish you the best of luck!

Awesome, thank you so much for all of this information! It will definitely help in our search.

Thanks! Originally we were looking in the Cobb area and unfortunately everything we loved would get an offer on it within almost a week. We bid on one but unfortunately they had received a better offer that morning which is why we decided to focus on other areas. Did you all end up buying in Forsyth county?
