Advertisements

Maybe they'll make it a giant digital phallic symbol?

Aren't there sign ordinances of any sort that would prohibit this? Especially in a more accident prone stretch of road? Although there is the giant LCD-ish billboard on the Ernst & Young billboard so maybe I just answered my own question. At least that one is removed from the road a bit...

Ferris Wheel we just put up has more of a chance to be an iconic structure than this. Terrible idea.

Lots of big cities in the world have digital displays... of course in a place where the Big Chicken is a landmark, this might be a bit too cutting edge.

But if it is a distraction to drivers, that's definitely an issue.

Yes, there definitely is, the city generally denies almost any new billboards. Twelve Centennial condos/hotel put a very large display of Peter Pan up but it didnt last long. We looked into it for our building at one point and were told by all the major billboard/advertising brokers that its virtually impossible to get permitted by the city for a new sign.

Never underestimate the power of the outdoor advertising business.

They are tough, well connected and they have a bottomless pit of money. And an army of lawyers to protect their first amendment rights.

No kidding...

I can't believe the rights we give them in this state.

We could make driving through this state seem natural, scenic and beautiful... but nope anyone can build a gigantic bumper sticker 80 feet in the air...

and if trees on public property happen to be in the way... they have to remove them or risk getting sued... its really dumb.

It looks like they are already working on this. I saw big cranes at the site on my way home last night.
