How will the Southwest portion of the beltline affect the surrounding neighborhoods?

Speaking of which, has anyone treked the future SW Beltline ROW? I was thinking of taking my bike and checking it out, but not sure of it is the currently the domain of the homeless.

Once this trail gets built the SW side of town is going to be on fire.

A friend and I hiked it in the spring. The railbed itself has been picked up and is clear. The part just South of Washington Park is mostly back yards and has a suburban feel. We only saw one other group of hikers and people in their backyards. There is a wooded section which is a great walk. South of I-20 there were some homeless in the wooded park and folks cutting across to and from the Kroger shopping center. It is definitely Urban in feel. The tunnels were impressive. We saw nothing scary, but there were not that many people out in mid-afternoon on a spring weekend. It was a good walk and, with two people, it felt safe. With a mountain bike, it would be a good ride.

I really, truly hope so. The SW area of town feels so detached right now.
