Considering Woodstock to call Home. I am somewhat familiar with Cumming, Buford and Alpharetta but have friends a bit West as well. They love it but I'd like to hear objective comments from other residents. I am a big boater and would love to be near either lake(s).

Thanks.

Insular. No easy access to the city or non-adjacent areas in the metro area.

Nice. Far away. Feels a bit more rural and removed from the city than many of the other suburbs. If you want a rural feel while being close to a major city, I think it's nice. If you have to commute into the city, I think it's a bit far.

I feel like it's probably one of the more conservative places with less diversity and maybe a bit more myopic than many parts of the metro, but that's just a generalization and my person experience with Woodstock is very limited.

I've posted here several times in the past about Woodstock and how much I love living there. It feels like a town rather than a suburb (provided you are living close enough to downtown).

I've left comments in these threads in the past if you want to read:

My only concern with Woodstock has to do with the schools. I have a friend who moved to Milton because she thought they were very overcrowded at the elementary level. She lived in Towne Lake.

It's a pretty, somewhat rural area otherwise.

Depends on where you are. We are in the all-Woodstock cluster (elem, middle, and high) and the elementary school is not overcrowded. Things might be different over in Town Lake, but I also feel like living over there is really more like the suburbs than the small-town feel we get being close to central Woodstock.

Thank you all, I am trying to get away from the craziness of the City, moving up from South Fl. and tired of 24hr. traffic, tolls, not able to see where my taxes go and out of control property prices and taxes plus a new wave of unidentifiable languages. Oh and the only two seasons down here are HOT and Hotter...lol... I am looking for good neighbors, safe all around place to jog, walk, spend a little time outdoors and less work, not isolated, but still close to shop and good schools.

Doesn't get much better than Woodstock, in my opinion. It's got a good urban feel but still has some elbow room.

The downtown area looks nice and if I had a job in Marietta or further north I would consider living there. Any job south of there no way.
