Hello I have a 10 year old son and I travel occasionally with my job. I need a on call nanny. I normally know my schedule one month in advance. Can someone give me any advice or refer a nanny. I need someone trustworthy and reliable.

I have used care.com with great success. It's a bit like online dating. You have to sort through the folks with poor grammar, then talk on the phone, then check references, then go with your gut. The girl I found through them has been with us (on about a once or twice a week non-schedule!) for four years. She is awesome. When I first hired her, I spent the day w/ her and my child. Actually may have done it for two times. Just so I got to know her. She's been better than anyone we met through word-of-mouth.

Also look at A Friend of the Family, afriend.com. I used them when my kids were young, and they (and I) adored the young woman that became our "regular". They aren't cheap, but their screening is very thorough. I had several sitters from the service before we settled on one whose schedule and personality clicked with us, but I was comfortable with all of them.
