Jere Morehead>Michael Adams. Period. Lots of good things ahead for UGA. They just need to crank up selectivity. If they can break avg 1300 SAT score, they'll be on par with UCLA. They're around 1245-1285 depending on source. With that caliber students, we'll see some great things coming from UGA. Hopefully UGA's 1 bln dollar capital campaign is successful too.

UGA plays important role in Georgia?s economic development - Atlanta Business Chronicle

"One of my first acts upon becoming the 22nd president of The University of Georgia was to open an economic development office in Atlanta. Some might ask why I did so, and my response is a simple one: As a land-grant institution, UGA is charged with serving the citizens of Georgia in ways that improve their lives. Economic opportunity, job creation and the support of existing businesses and industries in this state create opportunities for Georgians, and UGA can and should aid in those efforts."

UGA still has decades before it gets on UCLA's level if it ever does. Prestige alone will always keep UCLA ahead. One is also located in a world class city and the other is located in a random city in Georgia lolol.

What does a "random city" have to with anything? Oh you mean one of the best college towns in America I guess. UGA is moving into an elite status, definitely among public universities and is doing well against private schools as well. UGA will continue to move higher and higher each year.

He's so full of ****. They opened an office in Atlanta to compete with Tech, another major public institution in the state of Georgia, thus making UGA's efforts redundant. It's a waste of tax money and politically driven to compete with GT.

I agree. Morehead couches his response as serving the "citizens" of Georgia, so he opens an office in Atlanta. Atlanta is well covered by GT and other schools and doesn't need UGA. This move is for UGA's benefit by getting its finger in Atlanta's pie. Morehead doesn't care about Georgia, he just wants an in on the Atlanta market.

And this is a problem why? I would have to think that Atlanta is the number one source for UGA students and the number one market for its graduates.

By god the UGA haters have come out on this thread!

NEWSFLASH! UGA is the flagship university in the state! Why shouldn't it have a economic development office in the largest city (and capital) in the state?!

Sheesh ....

Because "Fathead" is preaching that Cow College is doing this to serve Georgia. At least he should be honest about his true motive.

Who asked for it? Apparently it was Fathead's idea.
