We live in a somewhat isolated suburb right now - the nearest Target is 10 miles, mall is 13 miles, downtown is 30 miles, so I am accustomed to not having too much close by.

Excited by what I am discovering about PTC and Atlanta as a whole, these boards are awesome
I believe you will be very happy in PTC! When are you coming down to visit?

Peachtree City is not "isolated" like some are trying to say.

You'll have most conveniences in the city, close-by. And whatever is not immediately within the city, you will be able to find in nearby Fayetteville or Newnan.

Peachtree City is a prime southern suburb of Atlanta (as are Fayetteville and Newnan)--not isolated at all.

Exactly. You'll have Targets, etc within a couple of minutes in Peachtree City. Fayetteville and Newnan will satisfy almost everything else that you'll need. For those times that you want some higher end action, the city is just 45 minutes north. I prefer Newnan (that's where I moved - even though I work in PTC), but PTC does have better schools.

Yes.

But I would say the city (Downtown Atlanta) is only about 30-35 minutes from PtC without traffic.

And Newnan has good schools too...!

You're right, I was just referencing the "preferred" destinations of midtown or Buckhead...downtown really doesn't have much to offer.

Understood.

But, I like Downtown...and it will be "preferred" within 10-15 years...you can count on it.

And also--Peachtree City is a good suburban place to live if one works right in Downtown Atlanta (government, etc.).

Much better commute from Fayette and Northern Coweta to Downtown than it is from the Northern Suburbs.

Indeed, I used to live in PTC (Aberdeen) and worked downtown (72 Marietta St) and it never took me more than 35-40 mins to get to work. Granted, I worked a slightly off schedule (10-7) and that's probably not doable now ... considering the mess Fairburn has created with the 74/85 intersection. But it's still the easiest 30 mile commute into the city, well under an hour.
