Hi All,

I am a 28 yr old black male moving to Atlanta next month for work. Never lived there so am coming with no idea about where everything is lol. I will be working in Sandy Springs off 400 just before you get to 285. The area around the hospitals.

So i just need some advice on good places to live. In atlanta i hear the rule is to live close to were you work because of the terrible traffic is this true? My goal would be to find a 1 bed apt for under $950 worst case under a $1000.

So what areas would you all recommend for a single guy. Would like an area with single folks around my age range and were the commute to sandy springs wont be a nightmare. I have heard of midtown, vinings, buckhead, decatur, smyrna, virginia highlands etc. What would u all recommend desparately need help.

Smyrna and Vinings would not be the best commute. Only about 8-10 miles but definitely hitting some of the worse of I-285 traffic plus you get the sun shining in your eyes blinding the traffic and it starts to crawl.

I definitely know people that make this commute so if you work off hours it is doable

Buckhead, Virginia Highlands, Midtown is only about 6-8 miles but a should be more of a reverse commute.

Living in Sandy Springs is also an option but night life would be more intown.

Your budget is reasonable and should give you plenty of options

Hi lorilove,

So sounds like you recommend Buckhead, Virginia Highlands, Midtown? Will these places have apts in my price range and is the traffic reasonable for a commute to sandy springs?

Does sandy springs have a young professional crowd that lives there or is it mainly suburban and family oriented?
