Of course everybody knows what ATL and MARTA stand for, and I've noticed on C-D at least that pretty much everybody uses PTC as an abbreviation for Peachtree City (even though it's technically incorrect LOL!) I've also started to see JC for Johns Creek.

What are some others? ARE there any others?

PIB = Peachtree Industrial Boulevard

JCB = Jimmy Carter Boulevard

P'tree = Peachtree

L'ville = Lawrenceville on many street signs in Gwinnett County

The "AUC" = Atlanta University Center

GT = Georgia Tech

GSU = stands for either Georgia State University or Georgia Southern University

PSC = stands for either the Public Service Commission when it comes to politics and utilities regulation or the Pimp Squad Click (P$C) when it comes to Atlanta's well-known rap music scene

DTP = Disturbing Tha' Peace, another one of Atlanta's well-known rap cliques

...Classic Atlanta abbreviations that reflect the political, social and cultural differences of the more left-leaning progressive-dominated area inside of the I-285 Perimeter and the more right-leaning conservative-dominated area outside of the I-285 Perimeter.

With Atlanta being an area in which college athletics (particularly college football) are extremely-popular, there's also college sports-related abbreviations like:

SEC = stands for Securities Exchange Commission in the Northeastern U.S., but means Southeastern Conference around these rabidly college football-crazed parts

ACC = the less football-heavy, more basketball-heavy Atlantic Coast Conference

UGA = University of Georgia

SoCon = Southern Conference, the mother conference of the powerful football-crazy SEC and basketball-crazy ACC college athletic conferences

I find them very irritating but there are ones like Va-Hi for Virginia Highland, Bu-Hi for Buford Highway and Fay-Co for Fayette County. I almost forgot So-No, south of North Avenue, which I find particularly bland. I think we should set a cap for these abbreviations now before people start calling Little Five Points Li-Fi-Po.

Which reminds me of L5P!

I've heard Jonesboro be referred to as J'boro. Similar abbreviation can be expected for anything ending in town, ville, etcetera.

F.O. = Frosted Orange at the Varsity
