I'll be in Atlanta next week. Some things I'll drive to and some I want to walk to.

Granted I'll have a rental. Where can I park the car and walk/bus it to different areas within the city. That way I can get the view from a locals perspective.

I'm staying OTP so I'll have to drive into the city and find a place to "park and ride/walk".

I hope this makes sense.

See ya soon........

Look for my review of Atlanta after my trip.

There's a $5/day lot next to the North Avenue MARTA station and it's close to Peachtree.

If you want to get a view of the city from a local's perspective, drive everywhere! That's what we do!

Parking in Atlanta generally isn't a huge problem if you're willing to pay for it. It's hard to say "park here to see everything" because there isn't a single area that is walkable to everything.

What you could do is park at a MARTA station, like Brookhaven with a big safe lot, and take the train. Between the Lenox station, Arts Center, 10th Street, Peachtree Center, and 5 points, you'd pretty much be able to see everything.

I've lived in Atlanta for 18 years. I only know one person who has ever ridden a MARTA bus.

Wherever you park, don't leave items of ANY value visible in your car. The most common crime we have here is car break ins.

If you wantt o see the Beltline, there's a gravel parking (free) lot at the corner of Krog and Irwin near Inman Park.

In fact, our neighborhood policeman recommends we leave nothing in our car and the car unlocked. That way the crooks don't have to break the window to determine there's nothing inside. I always leave my car unlocked. I often have a bag full of stuff to take to Good Will or the like in my car. I leave it open so no one mistakes my junk for anything valuable. They can have the stuff, just don't mess up my car!

If it were me, then I would consider finding a free lot. Seriously. Find an apartment complex or huge subdivision without a gate that has ample space for visitor parking on the street. This way your car doesn't really look out of place and you won't have an $80 parking bill when its time to leave.

If you are going to be driving it into daily then you could also consider leaving it in a 24-hour supermarket parking lot for the day.
