Arlington isn't a regular suburb, the rangers play in Arlington also. They pick the location because it's between Dallas and Fort Worth.

Parks or parking lots? I thought the whole point of the south lot was promoting MARTA access rather than driving?

Yea. This needs to be fixed. The best stadiums have no added parking. College football stadiums like Athens with lawn tail gating are the best for that and places like Wrigley where you take the train and walk across the street to a bar are even better experience.

Parking revenue, not what's best for the area, may be driving this discussion.

They could make even more money if that area to the north was a fan piazza with bars, restaurants and Merch shops.

That's relative. You can either try to collect rent from businesses that may or may not succeed (averaging about $20 per sq. ft. in Atlanta) or you can count on parking revenue from about 150-200 event days per year between the stadium, arena, and GWCC at $15 per vehicle.

I'm all for the greener, neighborhood friendly option. Unfortunately, the folks shelling out $1billion for this thing may feel otherwise.

Could they not make it park land that you can tailgate on? Even the fake all-weather grass could be used? Anything but ANOTHER Downtown parking lot!

Location? Parking lots? What does it matter - money is being wasted on an absolutely unnecessary facility to replace one that is 20 years old. Unbelievable. But hey, it's shiny and new.
