SweetWater 420 Fest Moving Locales - What Else Should? - Your Views - East Atlanta, GA Patch

I see this as a good thing for downtown. This is a very popular festival. Hopefully the success they've had in Candler Park over the last several years will continue at Centennial.

Yay, Atlanta's 2nd best park is going to get destroyed also. Hopefully, it doesn't rain.

Is Centennial bigger? I kinda like the other spot, but it was getting REALLY crowded.

What? Centennial Park is mostly concrete and brick as far as I know. There are many big events held there regularly.

Aren't most of the events in the grass portion of the park? I mean, there is a decent size green space at COP...

That festival had way outgrown Candler Park.

Downtown is much more suitable for a giant beerfest.

I could be wrong, maybe someone could confirm. I know there have been many concerts there - like Muse and Mumford & Sons recently -- and I always thought they were held on the concrete portion of the park.

But no one complained about damage to the grass so obviously it worked out alright...

The nice thing about Centennial is the security keeps the concrete paths clear during concerts so the majority of people walking is done on concrete instead of the giant grass field like at Piedmont.
