For the 5-10% who take MARTA now and might not come to games anymore, there were probably 5-10% that were not coming to games because they were downtown, so in the end with a smaller stadium it will even out and the braves will have the same attendance.

Cobb will not get MARTA for something that will be used 100 days out the year, assuming we make the playoffs. A train to cumberland area would be great, but the NIMBY's are lined up and ready for battle.

The only transit option will be a 15 min ride up I75 to the stadium if anyone plans to do a shuttle from Arts Center. This may open up a option to turn the emrgency lanes to bus lanes like on GA 400, as it wont solve the traffic problems, but gives people a option who take transit to bypass the traffic.

15 Min ride to the Station
15 Min wait for a train.
15-40 min ride on a train depending on where your stop is and if you have to get off at 5 pts and wait for another train.
10-20 Mins to drive home.

Either way its 1Hr plus to go home at night after the game.

You are going to have traffic no matter what. There is no perfect place where everyone can drive right up to the front door 5 minutes before first pitch.
Leave it where it is and you 400/75/85/285/20 and you have marta access.

What are you talking about?

Everybody will not have to drive to games. The people that work at Turner, many of them use MARTA too. They will either have to get cars or find other work.

There is also less options to even get to the stadium unless you live in Cobb vs where it is now you have marta and multiple highways.
The new location is just as close or closer to multiple highways and yes it is closer to most of the red. The map is pretty clear that Turner was at the south end of it while this location in Cobb is about 30% into the middle of it.

OK so say that equates to 'only' 2,500 using the Marta shuttle every home game.

That's still over 400,000 people across the season that either now have to drive or simply no longer go to the games....and when you factor in that around 40% of Shuttle users are out of town tourists, well you've lost that income.

To be truthful, I've not read much, but if access is/was an issue, why not the old GM site, though DeKalb couldn't come up with the money that Cobb can...

You forgot to add a "1" to the 15 min ride. It will be more like a 115 min ride up I75

FYI:
There are a couple other active threads going about the Braves move.
One is titled, "Southeast Atlanta Neighborhoods..." & the other is "Turner Field Ideas..."

Even if that is true they at least had a Marta option or 2 other freeways to use.

Good move for the Braves, bad move for the City of Atlanta. The hard fact is, more fans will likely attend games at the proposed Cobb site.

Nevertheless, I dislike suburban baseball stadiums with a passion.
